Hi, I’m Shehan Avishka, a Backend Engineer at PickMe who loves building high-performance, scalable systems.
Academically, I graduated from the University of Colombo School of Computing (USCS) in 2024. Since my undergraduate days, I’ve been passionate about backend systems and side projects, which helped me secure an internship at DirectFN.
After spending nearly 1.5 years in the industry, I decided to return to my alma mater to pursue a Master of Computer Science degree in 2026. Over the next year, I plan to focus on research in areas that I am deeply interested in.
In the industry, before joining PickMe, I worked at IFS (Sitecore) as a Software Engineer. At PickMe, I contribute to building Sri Lanka’s #1 Food Delivery Platform.
I enjoy writing about my thoughts and experiences and sharing them with others. Teaching and breaking down complex problems into simple, understandable ideas is something I love. Just like I ask ChatGPT to explain concepts as if I were a 7-year-old, I try to do the same when sharing knowledge with humans.
